Cotton College State University is an autonomous body formed via Act No XIX of 2011 passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly, and which received the assent of the Governor of Assam on 3rd September 2011, and was notified by the Government of Assam on 5th September 2011. It is also referred to as either CCSU or the University.

When does the University collect information from users?

The University collects information from users when either or its e-mail service is accessed, and when a user submits online applications for various programs of the University, such as its post-graduate and research programs.

What information does the University gather?

The University may collect contact information including user e-mail and mailing addresses, IP address, and relevant information for the University for the various  application processes, formation of policies and protecting the interests of the University. With these objectives, it may also collect information on geo-location, machine identifications, browser types and language, and similar related information.

How does the University use the information?

The University uses the information for processes of admission to the various programs, such as the post-graduate and research programs of the University, and formulation of University policies.

The IP address may be used to identify problems, and look at user statistics to improve upon the services. The University does not generally track user sessions, although it may do so if needed. However, the University does not share this information with anyone else. This means that user sessions may be tracked, but the users will remain anonymous.

The email address provided by the users may be used to send information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions for resolving any problem.

As a policy, the University may share information with a third-party only if it believes that it is necessary for improvement of the services to the users, and only to the extent necessary for this objective. The third-party partners are not allowed to either use or share the information with any other party except for the sole purpose of improving the services to the University users and with the consent of the University.

The University may also make information available to third parties if legally required to do so, and also to prevent fraud and protect the University and its users.

The users of are debarred from uploading or submitting to any material or comments/statements that are likely to libellous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, abusive, or otherwise illegal. They are also debarred from uploading material, making comments or using language that may be abusive and/or discriminates on the basis of race, religion, colour, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, region, age, disability, etc. By default, the users also agree that they will not indulge in any act that may be detrimental and adversely affect the services provided by .
